Journaling Tips

Journaling can be quite difficult at times. You may feel that you are just repeating yourself page after page. Here are some tips to help.

Pre-plan. When you carry your camera, carry a small notebook. As you take the photos, jot down your thoughts about the event.

Include the who, what, when, where, and why of your subject.

Try to capture emotions.

Jot down all your thoughts on scrap paper first and then work with these ideas on your final layout.

Use lists. A top ten list of the occasion or person is a great, simple, way of including your information on your pages.

Remember that photos lose their meaning to future generations without the journaling to tell the story. Try to include the date and a brief description of each photo. This can be done by using tags, a journaling block, mini books, or just an extra length on the bottom of each frame to write on. Try not to write on the photos as this could damage them.
